NimnoTech, USACE ERDC, GLRI, and the City of Defiance, Ohio, share how a P-Optimal demonstration wetland is being used as a prototype or model. The goal is to identify wetland characteristics that promote phosphorus retention, identify potential technology limitations, and improve water quality in tributaries by reducing nonpoint source phosphorus loads from agricultural landscapes.

The Defiance Research Wetland was one of 3 stops visited by Defiance County 6th Graders this month.  The field trip also included visits to Defiance Water Treatment plant and Defiance County Landfill.

Katelyn Smith, Freshwater Research Technician from Defiance Research Alliance engages with 6th grade students for water quality testing (measuring turbidity).
