– Defiance Soil & Water Conservation District, Defiance Research Alliance, and the Upper Maumee Watershed Partnership are joining the Lake Erie Volunteer Science Network (LEVSN). This regional collaborative aims to empower volunteers with collecting and sharing water quality data to safeguard Lake Erie and its communities. LEVSN Collaborating Partners include educators, researchers, and agencies. Local Hubs coordinate community volunteers for monitoring efforts with the focus on protecting local water resources. This initiative aims to standardize data collection and empowers volunteer science groups to contribute to informed water management and advocacy in the Lake Erie Watershed. Defiance is joining LEVSN for the 2024 sampling season. If you are interested in more information about how to get involved, please contact Wendy Baker at wbaker@defiancecounty.oh.gov.
